From toys to wireless devices to advanced computers and industrial detector systems, printed circuit boards (PCB) are used everywhere. This means almost every electronic device that we use today features printed circuit board. If the printed circuit stops working, the entire circuit would stop working. In such case, OEM may incur severe losses due to product recalls and negative reviews. One of the most common reasons for PCB failure is that it has not undergone testing. Also, OEM has made no effort to test its quality and functionality. This is why today OEM of electronic devices usually employ services of reliable printed circuit board manufacturing and assembly services. These service providers help assure quality, functionality, and efficiency of PCBs. Rigiflex is one of the leading manufacturers of printed circuit boards in the US. We provide a comprehensive range of PCB testing services. Read this post to know about Rigiflex’s PCB testing capabilities.
PCB Testing Capabilities of Rigiflex Discussed
PCB testing helps in determining the performance of a printed circuit board under different conditions. At Rigiflex, we provide the following PCB testing services to our clients
Flying Probe Testing: This PCB testing technique is employed during prototype building. It helps analyze the faults in prototype PCBs. Flying probe testing is an automated technique and requires no expensive fixtures.
Features of Flying Probe Testing at Rigiflex
- A PCB is connected to 4-8 test heads, moving in high speed.
- We use advanced Manufacturing Defects Analyzer (MDA) to detect missing components, shorts, opens, and wrong polarities. This analyzer also helps us to probe pins for advanced PCBs.
- The technique allows us to alter between several printed circuit board revisions during prototype building.
In-circuit Testing (ICT): This testing is performed to ensure proper functioning of components on the printed circuit board. In-circuit testing helps analyze every minor manufacturing fault on the circuit board. During the testing, several parameters, including resistance and capacitance are measured. Also, the testing is extended to analog components such as amplifiers.
Features of Flying Probe Testing at Rigiflex
- A software programming is written for each circuit board to be tested. This program includes instructions regarding tests to be conducted, and the information on the pass or fail criteria.
- All measurements are done using in-circuit tester, which comprise of a number of drivers and sensors.
- Our experts design individual fixtures to meet the requirements of specific boards. These fixtures help connect the driver sensor points, as well as route them to the appropriate points on the board.
- Bed of nails is used for testing and connecting test boards.
Functional Testing: This testing is performed towards the end of the PCB testing process. It helps us detect various issues such as incorrect component placements, missing components, opens, and shorts. Functional testing helps us make Go/No Go decision before shipping the product to the client.
Features of Functional Testing
- Our experts design custom functional test suites to match client specifications.
- We use PXI and Lab View software systems to design FCT systems, which are used to test static parameters of the PCB.
- We can also provide bench top functional systems for extremely low volume PCB prototypes, and universal functional test rack systems for various boards.
Burn-in Testing: This testing is performed on components prior to the use. The components are stressed to check their endurance limit.
All the above-mentioned PCB testing capabilities have helped us deliver high-quality, and defect-free PCBs to our clients. In addition to all these, we also provide various PCB inspection services.
